New magistrate Ruppenthal to address NAACP here The Fayette NAACP Branch is continuing its practice of inviting local officials to monthly meetings. This month, Magistrate Court Judge Robert Ruppenthal will address the April 14 meeting to relate his qualifications. A local lawyer handling both civil and criminal cases, Ruppenthal has a law degree from Georgia State University, an MBA from Amber University in Dallas, Texas, and a B.A. in operations management from Auburn. He was elected to the Magistrate Court this past November. Ruppenthal lives in Tyrone with his wife and two children. Persons arrested on suspicion on a crime initially appear before Magistrate Court judges. The courts also handle minor civil and criminal matters. The NAACP branch will meet Saturday, April 14 at 4 p.m. at Flat Rock African Methodist Episcopal Church, 148 Old Chapel Road just off Ga. Highway 54 between Peachtree City and Fayetteville. At the May 12 meeting, state Rep[. Bob Holmes is scheduled to address the branch. Holmes is director of the Southern Center for Studies in Public Policy and represents the 53rd District, in the Atlanta area. He is chairman of the state Legislature governmental Affairs Committee.
