Time to burn outdoors before ban on May 1 If you've got yard debris or other items you wish to burn, get it over with before May 1. That's when the countywide outdoor burning ban begins again. The annual ban is designed to keep fires from spreading during dry periods when they are more likely to spread quickly and get out of control. As usual, the ban will be lifted Oct. 1. The Fayette County Department of Fire and Emergency Services would like to remind everyone that all outdoor burning of yard debris such as leaves and limbs will be prohibited during the ban. Developers should also be aware that burning of debris from land clearing for development projects is also affected by the ban. For information phone the department at 770-461-1321, ext. 5414.
