Respect for Law program on tap The Fayetteville Optimist Club will host its 20th Respect for Law program Thursday, May 3 at Melears. The Officer of the Year from the Fayette County Sheriff's Department and the Fayetteville Police Department will be recognized. Also, a student Police Chief of the Day, winner of an essay contest at Fayetteville Elementary School, will be recognized. Students wrote on "why I want to be police chief."
