Teen sued over wreck claims no negligence
In court documents, a local teenager has denied she acted negligently in events that led to a serious automobile accident at the intersection of Sandy Creek Road and Sams Drive. Lydia Farman, 16, along with her parents Bruce and Leanne, have been sued for negligence by Larissa Beth Tackett, who was driving the car Farman struck with her 2000 Ford Mustang. Tackett, who was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the accident, is seeking damages to pay for medical expenses incurred in her injuries and the injuries of her child, Cameron, who was strapped into a child safety seat when the accident occurred. Tackett is also seeking a monetary award for pain and suffering brought on by the accident. According to an accident report filed by the Fayette County Sheriff's Department, Farman pulled in front of Tackett's vehicle while attempting to turn onto Sandy Creek Road. Farman was charged with failure to yield at a stop sign. In their answer to the lawsuit, the Farmans also allege that neither of the parents should be held legally responsible for the accident. The Farmans' lawyer, Samuel Murray, also said that Leanne Farman did not provide the car to Lydia Farman, which is what Tackett originally claimed in the lawsuit. John Munford
