The Facts of Life By DR. KNOX HERNDON 1. At least five people in this world love you so much they would die for you. 2. At least 15 people in this world love you in some way. 3. The only reason anyone would ever hate you is because they want to be just like you. 4. A smile from you can bring happiness to anyone, even if they don't like you. 5. Every night SOMEONE thinks about you before they go to sleep. 6. You mean the world to someone. 7. Without you, someone may not be living. 8. You are special and unique, in your own way. 9. Someone that you don't know even exists loves you. 10. When you make the biggest mistake ever, something good comes from it. 11. When you think the world has turned its back on you, take a look, you most likely turned your back on the world. 12. When you think you have no chance at getting what you want, you probably won't get it, but if you believe in yourself, you probably sooner or later will get it. 13. Always remember compliments you received; forget about the rude remarks. 14. Always tell someone how you feel about them; you will feel much better when they know. 15. If you have a great friend, take the time to let them know that they're great. As you know, we all get a lot of psycho-babble on the Internet, but once in a while something good floats in from cyberspace and uplifts the human spirit. I would add to this above list number 16. It would read, "If you know God through Christ you have found the real facts of life." Years ago you would, and even occasionally now you will see a bumper sticker that reads: "Christ is the Answer." When I was younger for some reason, that didn't make a lot of sense to me. Without giving it a lot of thought, I would think that certainly there were lots of issues where Christ was not the answer. As I matured in my faith and got a little "long in tooth," as the Alaskan Indians would say when they wanted to say you had a little age on you, I began to see the total truth about this statement. The real "facts of life"
are not about "birds and bees," but about Just free your mind for a moment and start listing all the problems you and your family and the worldhave had for the last 50 years. Then add the evening news with all the crime, killings and problems any American community faces. Then open the daily newspaper and add all the international problems around the world. Then take just three words, "Love one another" that Jesus of Nazereth spoke and apply them to all these situations and see if it will not alleviate all those problems. What a novel idea!
