Extension Office offers composting class

Do you find yourself cleaning up yard debris and turning it into black gold?

If so, call the Fayette County Extension Office and join the many volunteers that enjoy composting.

These volunteers work to educate the public about composting. Composting not only produces a valuable soil amendment, but allows the homeowner to use his own yard waste in the process. This reduces the amount of organic waste material being disposed of by the county.

Believe it or not, many people think that compost is smelly and unsightly. Join the group in changing minds, as well as instilling enthusiasm about composting.

The Fayette County Master Composters are offering another class to interested residents. The training consists of three classes Monday mornings in May. Training will be conducted by the extension staff, environmental educators and Master Composters.

The training sessions will be at the Extension Office at the County Administrative Complex and at the demonstration site in Peachtree City.
