Survey heading to your mail

When you check your mail in the next few months, you may find a beautiful survey from Coweta County.

The Coweta County Commission decided Tuesday to spend nearly $7,600 on a survey to residents asking about the county's water quality and Water Department service.

Water director Harry Hughes explained the EPD requires counties to send out the survey and said the county spent $5,700 on it last year.

But last year's total did not include the time that Hughes and his staff spent designing the survey and sticking address labels on them.

This year, Hughes recommended using a professional printer in Louisiana that specializes in municipal printing.

For the extra dollars, Hughes said the county could get a two-color professional brochure. He added the company would also mail out the brochures.

"This is a total turnkey operation," he said.

The survey is pretty simple this year, since the county only receives water from Newnan Utilities. But in the future when the county starts drawing water from other sources, it will become more complicated, he added.

Some of the commissioners wanted it made clear that, when the county starts drawing water from Atlanta, it is not coming straight from the Chattahoochee River.

Hughes said that information would not be included in the survey, but emphasized all water coming from Atlanta would be treated first.
