Health, safety fair set Saturday

A variety of activities to promote health and safety are on tap Saturday at Health and Safety Day, planned in front of Stevi B's Pizza.

The event will take place 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Stevi B's is at 107 Banks Station on Ga. Highway 85 in Fayetteville. The fair features finger printing by Tom Wells State Farm Insurance Office, self defense demonstrations and karate to music by Vitali Family Karate, Fayette County Sheriff DARE, PT Cruiser, a visit from Sparky the Fire Dog from 1 - 3, fire and medic trucks, police cars and bike safety.

The event, sponsored by Stevi B's Pizza of Fayetteville, Miniteman Press of Fayetteville and Atlanta's Christian radio station J93.3, benefits the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.

The educational community event also supports cancer research and patient programs. Stevi B's has agreed to donate a portion of the sales from meals purchased Saturday to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society's Team in Training Program.

The program generates financial support that aids current and former leukemia patients such as Fayette County residents Tyler Johnson and Paul Waldrop Jr. The cost of the meal that day is $6 for adults and $4 for children, including meal and drink.

For information, phone Stephanie A. Westmyer, Ph.D., event coordinator, at 678-817-0799.
