Local eighth grader wins science fair award

One of South Fulton's students came away a big winner in the school system's science fair.

Teshawn Ransom, who attends McNair Middle School, won a microscope for his project named "The Co-existence Of Oxygen And Carbon Dioxide Consumers."

School officials said that Ransom has always had a serious interest in science, particularly space exploration. In fact, the eighth grader got the idea for his science project while watching an episode of the popular TV series "Star Trek."

In addition to being a science lover, Ransom is a member of the concert band and the school's Talented and Gifted Program.

Ransom is a mainstay on the principal's list, which is the school's all A's honor roll.

He and his sister Kelle are the final two of eight high-achieving Ransoms to attend McNair. They live in College Park with grandparents Robert C. and Florence B. Stovall.
