Thirsty South
Fulton residents may soon be able to get a drink of water.
Coweta County
Commission Chairman Robert Wood announced during Tuesday's meeting that
he had a recent discussion with Fulton County Commissioner Bill Edwards
at a conference in Washington, D.C.
The commissioners
talked about the possibility of South Fulton tapping into the water
lines that Coweta County is running from the city of Atlanta through
South Fulton into Coweta County.
Wood alluded
to the fact that some disgruntled South Fulton residents who were not
happy with the recent Coweta County decision not to annex a portion
of the county into Coweta tried to stop the water lines.
Wood said
he would not have a problem with Fulton tapping into the water lines,
but just did not want Coweta's plan to be slowed down.
Wood also
said the final decision would not rest with Coweta.
"As
you realize, the water lines in discussion will belong to the city of
Atlanta and any approval for connections or taps would, of course, have
to come from them," he said.
Apparently,
Coweta County had not secured all the permits before starting construction
on the water lines. But County Administrator Theron Gay said the permits
are now in the process of being approved and there should be no delay
in the process.
