County has teacher of the year semifinalist
Coweta County's Teacher of the Year 2000, Kristin Skelly, has been named a semifinalist for Georgia Teacher of The Year. Skelly has been serving as Coweta's Teacher of The Year since May 2000. She joins a long line of recent Coweta honorees who have reached the semifinals or finals of this prestigious competition, including two Coweta teachers who have been named Georgia Teacher of the Year. Skelly teaches fourth grade at Arbor Springs Elementary School, where she is admired and respected by administrators and fellow teachers alike. "She is the best of the best," says Arbor Springs Principal Dr. Patricia Falk. As part of the selection process, Skelly was recently visited while in action in her classroom by a committee from the Georgia Department of Education. Also, she has submitted a video showcasing her teaching and speaking skills. "I am so honored to be a part of this whole process. Over the past few months, I have had the opportunity to meet some of the finest teachers and administrators in Georgia. I am grateful to Coweta County for giving me the chance to participate in the state level of competition," said Skelly.
