Three Fayette schools to vie in Literary Meet Friday High school students from Augusta, Ga. to Gray, Ga. to Newnan, Ga. will converge on the campus of Clayton College & State University this Friday, March 9, for the Georgia High School Association Regional Literary Meet. Fayette County, Starr's Mill and McIntosh high schools will be represented in the 5-A Region meet, competing with Eagles Landing, East Coweta, Evans, Henry County, Lovejoy, Morrow, Newnan, North Clayton, Riverdale and Stockbridge. Eighteen other schools also will compete in the Quad-A meet. Five-A will begin with a 10 a.m. opening session, in arts and sciences room 132. The six events essay, extemporaneous speaking, dramatic interpretation, solo, quartet/trio, spelling will be conducted from 10:20 a.m. to 2 p.m. Awards will be presented at the same location at 2 p.m. The Literary Meet is hosted by the Clayton State Department of Humanities, the Department of Music and the Office of the Vice President of Academic Affairs. Qualified faculty and staff from various Clayton State departments will serve as judges. Clayton College & State University is a member institution of the University System of Georgia and is in Morrow in south metro Atlanta. Approximately 10 percent of its students are Fayette County residents.
