Candidates for the Post 4 seat on the Brooks Town Council will face the public tonight in a question-and-answer session at 6:30 p.m. at Town Hall.

The gathering precedes the Town Council meeting, set for 7:30.

Two citizens have qualified for the election , which will be at the Brooks United Methodist Church Tuesday, March 20, 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.

Lewis Harper, deputy chief of police for College Park, has lived in Brooks for 11 years. He had served on the last land use committee and is currently on the town Water Committee.

He and his wife, Jane, have two grown sons.

"I believe in being involved," he said, "in my community. I was reared in the Fife community, Fairburn, and have been in municipal government for 28 years. I have a good feel for the work of a councilman and I feel quite qualified for the post."

Frances V. Bauer, along with her husband, Jon Ramsden and 12 year old daughter, Michelle Ramsden, have also lived in Brooks for 11 years.

She was born in Hampton and reared in Woodbury, where her father served on the Town Council.

She is a graduate from the University of Georgia with a bachelor of arts degree and began her career as an air traffic control specialist in Hampton. She resigned that position in 1995.

"I am very interested in maintaining the special qualities of life we all enjoy here in Brooks," she said. "I love our small town atmosphere, rural setting and non-commercialism. I want to ensure that our community is shaped to preserve all of the things that make our town desirable to our residents and their families."
