CCSU hosts annual literary meet

While Clayton State's students are enjoying their spring break, the University will "adopt" a couple of hundred high school students to occupy its buildings.

This Friday, CCSU will host the annual Literary Meet for the public high schools in its area. There will be between 150 and 250 young people representing between 16 and 25 high schools.

The Department of Humanities and the Department of Music will be the CCSU sponsors for the event. Qualified faculty and staff from any Clayton State department have been invited to serve as judges.

In the past, CCSU has used essay and speaking judges from a wide variety of fields. The high school regions provide a modest honorarium for part-time faculty who judge. Full-time faculty members volunteer as community service.

Among the events, which are divided between boys and girls, are Essay, Extemporaneous Speaking, Dramatic Interpretation, Spelling, Solo Singing, Quartet (boys) and Trio (girls).

Clayton College & State University is a member institution of the University System of Georgia and is in Morrow in south metro Atlanta.
