Senoia could be selling souvenirs By JOHN
THOMPSON
Leaders in Senoia want people to recognize the city. In fact, Mayor Joan Trammell would eventually like to see shirts available in City Hall that bears the city's trademark of Princess Senoia that visitors to the city could purchase. Trammell unveiled her proposal to the City Council Monday night. She would like to see the city's politicians get shirts or jackets with the logo to wear to many of the government meetings they attend. The mayor gave accounts of prior meetings that she had attended where many other municipalities were strutting their logos proudly. Trammell has checked with the city's attorney and said they could use the trademark, but long-time resident Joanne Utt was not so sure. Utt said the city's Historical Society had brokered a deal with a previous administrations to allow the use of the Princess Senoia logo. But the catch is that the city cannot sell the product for a profit. Trammell said the city would be selling the shirts at cost to the council members, but said she would not be opposed to the Historical Society getting a portion of the proceeds if the shirts were ever sold to the public. "We just have a lot of people who come in here who want to buy a souvenir," she said. Utt said she would discuss the matter with the Historical Society and get back to Trammell, but she did not see a problem in the city allowing just city politicians and workers to purchase shirts.
