Collins honored by National Assn. of Manufacturers For his efforts to trim government and reduce taxes and unnecessary regulations, Rep. Mac Collins was honored this week by the National Association of Manufacturers with its award for Legislative Excellence in the 106th Congress. Carolyn Hawver, Director of Operations at the Eco-Labs McDonough plant, presented the award to Collins in her offices in McDonough. Joining her in the presentation were Jeff T. Wansley, regional manager of the National Association of Manufacturers (NAM), April Lavender, Executive Director of the Georgia Industries Association, and Glenn Hibberts, Director of the Georgia Employers Association. "The Congressman shows a true understanding of manufacturing's key role in the strength of our economy," NAM President Jerry Jasinowski said in a written statement. "He showed the willingness to cast the critical votes that will boost competitiveness, job creation and prosperity for working Americans." "This award is a great honor and is recognition that a common sense approach allows us to write legislation which strengthens businesses which provide jobs and prosperity, yet still provides protection for workers and our environment," Collins said. After the presentation of the award, Collins answered questions and discussed legislative issues with those who were present. Hawver then took Collins on a tour of the plant, which produces liquid and solid commercial cleaning compounds.
