Fayette educators help win awards for 6th District The Georgia Association of Elementary School Principals has awarded the 6th District for its outstanding membership for 2001. Spring Hill Elementary School Principal Michael Howell, who is also membership chairman of the organization, helped to bring the award to the district by writing canvas letters to current and prospective members as well as making speeches at various events about the advantages of belonging to GAESP. The two awards received by the 6th District were for achieving 75 percent or above total district membership and for recruiting a record number of 26 new members this year. "I am really pleased with the results. This is a very worthwhile organization and I am glad we were able to get that message out to those in the 6th district," said Howell. Membership is open to elementary school principals and assistant principals. Other Fayette members holding office in GAESP include Huddleston Elementary School Principal Becky Maddox (also the district president), and Tyrone Elementary School Principal Eddie Pollard, district liaison to the National Association of Elementary School Principals.
