Local teacher is honored

Patricia Carman, an educator at McIntosh High School, has been recognized as an outstanding educator by the University of Richmond.

Annually, first-year students at Richmond have an opportunity to designate the high school educators who have had the greatest influence on their intellectual growth and achievement. This year, Erin Bartels, a member of Richmond's class of 2004 and a 2000 graduate of McIntosh, named Carman.

"Every time I sit to compose an essay or even to scribble in a personal notebook, I will thank Mrs. Carman for the ease with which my pen chases my thoughts," said Bartels.
