Goat man looking for lost goats By DAVE
HAMRICK
If you happen to find ten lost goats in the vicinity of Mundy's Mill Road and Ga. Highway 54, Mitchell Williams would be grateful if you would let him know. Mitchell is the gubernatorial candidate who created a stir a couple of weeks ago when he herded his "True Time Parade" of 57 goats into Fayette County, only to herd them back out again after learning that the county has laws against herding livestock on the public right of way. He is running for governor on a platform calling for "true time," doing away with Eastern Standard Time and using a different time for each division of latitude. After leaving Fayette, Williams herded his goats into a field at Hwy. 54 and Mundy's Mill, and Noah's Ark animal shelter later arranged for the herd to be transported to a camp site where he can winter the herd, near Fairburn. But in the meantime, a pack of wild dogs attacked the herd in the night, killing one and scattering 10. "They would stay together, even while they were running away," said Williams this week. "I imagine what happened is that they showed up on somebody's farm near there, and they kept them, figuring whoever owned them would show up sooner or later." But Williams can't leave his herd to go looking for the lost ones, he said, so he is hoping someone has seen them or heard something and can let him know. He can be reached at 770-969-6273.
