Nancy Price takes over Main Street Fayetteville

Main Street Fayetteville has a new leader.

City Manager Joe Morton confirmed Friday morning that Nancy Price will assume the position of Main Street manager effective Monday, Feb. 26. Morton plans to make an official announcement at Tuesday's Main Street board meeting.

Price's new job is a staff position reporting to Morton, so her hiring requires no official vote from either the Main Street board or the City Council.

She replaces Shellie Reed, the former Main Street director who resigned in December.

Since then, the position has been tweaked slightly, or "expanded" as Price put it, and she said she was intrigued with certain aspects of that, such as making it a manager's position and including more economic development and other factors.

"The timing was right for me," she said. "I decided to go for it."

Price leaves Regions Bank in Peachtree City after seven years, during which she handled marketing and founded the Heritage Club, an organization for senior citizens. She has been active in a number of civic and community endeavors over the years, something that made her very familiar to Morton and other city officials.

"We're real excited about having her on board," said Morton. "Nancy knows key people in the community, and they know her. She's got a proven track record. It's a tremendous move for Main Street."
