The South
Fulton Chamber of Commerce is looking for a new president.
Chamber director
Sheila Crews confirmed that former president Kermit Hairston tendered
his resignation to the board Feb. 2.
"All
we can say now is that he left to pursue other opportunities,"
Crews said.
In the interim,
Crews is performing many of Hairston's functions while the Metro Atlanta
Chamber of Commerce conducts a search for a new president.
"We
need to find somebody fast. I have a full-time job," she said.
Officials
at the Metro Atlanta Chamber would not comment on the resignation, except
to say that Senior Vice President of Economic Development Hans Gant
is conducting the search.
Gant was
on a chamber trip to Israel last week, so officials said he is really
starting to focus on the search this week.
Crews believes
the new president has a great chance for success at the South Fulton
Chamber.
"There
is so much going on right now in the area. It's a great opportunity,"
she said.
