BOYLAN Opening Today Down To Earth Chris Rock stars as a comedian who dies before his time and returns to Earth in the body of a rich, old, white man. This is a remake of Heaven Can Wait and could be quite good. Rated PG-13. Sweet November Keanu Reeves stars as an all-business business man and Charlize Theron stars as a woman who dates men for one month to reawaken their spirits. A nice movie for Valentine's Day weekend. Rated PG-13. Recess: School's Out The Disney cartoon hits the big screen. The film focuses on a school break filled with action and comedy. If you are a fan of the show, you will love the movie. Rated G. Now Playing 13 Days Kevin Costner stars in this drama about the Cuban missile crisis. Go see this to see how close we came to world annihilation, or go see it to laugh at the Boston accents of the guys playing the Kennedys. Rated R. Cast Away Tom Hanks was amazing as a man stranded on a deserted island. He will win the Oscar for Best Actor and this film will captivate you. Appropriate for almost any age, though some scenes may be too intense for children, Cast Away is destined to be a classic. Rated PG-13. Double Take A comedy action caper starring Orlando Jones and Eddie Griffin. It looks humorous, although it also looks like a movie that has been made about a hundred times before. Rated PG-13. Finding Forrester Sean Connery stars in this film as a reclusive author who befriends a promising young writer. Rated PG-13. Hannibal This was an excellent film, though a little bloody in parts. The acting was impeccable and the film was beautifully shot by Ridley Scott (Gladiator). You don't miss Jody Foster at all as Julianne Moore is more than adequate. This is why they make movies. Enjoy. Rated R. Head Over Heels Freddie Prinze Jr. (not as talented as his dad) stars in this film about a man who is mistaken for a killer by a girl who lives with supermodels. I heard this is awful and if you are expecting a kind word on movies, that's not my job, man. Rated PG-13. Miss Congeniality Sandra Bullock stars as an FBI agent who goes undercover on the beauty pageant circuit. I'll bet she wins, because she's so darned cute. Rated PG-13. O Brother Where Art Thou This film, written and directed by The Coen Brothers (Fargo) is set in the Depression Era south. It is humorous and beautifully directed but the film goes nowhere and none of the characters change. Rated PG-13. Save The Last Dance This movie is about a girl who moves to an inner city school and learns to follow her dreams of becoming a professional dancer. Sorry, but this one is not for me. Rated PG-13. Snatch Guy Ritchie (Mr. Madonna) directs this comic-gangster caper about a baseball sized diamond. Brad Pitt stars in this film that was wildly successful in England. Rated R. Saving Silverman The story of a man's friends kidnapping his fiance so that bachelorhood can go on forever. This looks lame but it does have jack Black (one of my favorite actors) as one of the psycho friends. By the way, this is a comedy. I think. Rated PG-13. Sugar and Spice A group of cheerleaders decide to rob a bank to help pay for something. Maybe new pom-poms. It looks cute though. If you can't wait for video, go for it. Rated PG-13. The Pledge Jack Nicholson stars as a cop in this thriller directed by Sean Penn. It looks promising. Helen Mirren also stars. Rated R. The Wedding Planner Jennifer Lopez and Matthew McConaughey star in this film about a wedding planner who falls in love with her client. This is the type of film Julia Roberts used to make before becoming a serious, award-winning actress. Rated PG-13. Traffic This film, directed by Steven Soderbergh, is on a lot of people's top ten lists this year. It stars newlyweds Michael Douglas and Catherine Zeta Jones and is nominated for a ton of Golden Globe Awards. It is for the adults. Rated R. Valentine In college, four friends mercilessly humiliated another student. Now, 10 years later he is a hunk and out for revenge. This film stars David Boreanaz (Angel) and Denise Richards (Wild Things). Rated R. What Women Want If you look like Mel Gibson, women want you. If you look like me, women want you to go away and stop looking at them. This looks like a one joke movie, but audiences who like this kind of film loved this movie. You know what you like. Rated PG-13. Also Playing Antitrust Ryan Phillipe and Tim Robbins star in this thriller about billionaires and computers. If it sounds boring, that's because it probably is. This movie tanked at the box office. Let it tank at the dollar theater too. Rated PG-13. Charlie's Angels A fun movie based on the hit television program. It is quite campy but the action is good and the sound track is great. Rated PG-13. Dude, Where's My Car The story of two losers who can't remember anything that happened to them the night before. It is probably funny to people under the age of 30. Rated PG-13. Family Man Nicolas Cage stars as a man who gets to see what his life would be like if he married his college sweetheart. This would be a good movie for Valentine's day weekend. Rated PG-13. The Grinch This film loses some appeal now that Christmas is in the past, but Jim Carrey gives a great performance and the visuals are stunning Rated PG. Meet the Parents Here is my pick for a sleeper hit of the year. This film was hysterically funny and one could really feel the embarrassment of Ben Stiller's character. It was sometimes painful to watch because the situation got worse and worse. See this film you won't be disappointed. Rated PG-13. 102 Dalmations Cruella DeVil and those cute dogs are back for another rollicking Disney comedy. If you like the first installment, you'd like this one too. Rated G. Remember The Titans A great film for football fans and non-fans alike. The plot centers on the first integrated high school football team in Virginia. Denzel Washington turns in a classy performance, as usual. Rated PG. Rugrats in Paris Everybody's favorite babies take on gay Paree with their wide eyed wonderment and their toilet humor. The Rugrats used to be fresh and original, but it hasn't aged well. If you and your family are big fans of the show, don't let me stop you from enjoying this film. Rated G. Vertical Limit Set on the second most dangerous mountain in existence, K2, Chris O'Donnell must rescue his sister who is trapped in an avalanche. This looks exciting, albeit a tad predictable. Rated PG-13.
