The 2001 WalkAmerica Fayette Kickoff luncheon was attended by over 100 representatives of businesses and industry in the county.

They heard from a young couple, Kenneth and Juli Moore, who were there with their 18-month-old child, Kyleigh. She was born weighing 2.175 pounds and was just 14 inches long. The Moores told about the help of the March of Dimes in helping to pay for medications, one of which was $1,200 per teaspoon.

WSB representative, Jocelyn Dorsey, related the scare surrounding the birth of her first grandchild, and credited the doctors knowing the right procedures to save her because of the research done with March of Dimes donations.

The Fayette Walk will be Saturday, April 28, and will start at the Peachtree City Recreation Department - Shakerag Hill.

Registration begins at 9 a.m. with the walk starting at 10 a.m. and will take place rain or shine. Entertainment and a picnic will greet everyone at the end of the walk.

Fayette Chairman Tracey Coker of Fayette Community Hospital said that Fayette County collected a total of $103,000 last year, with Hoshizaki being the top fund raiser, bringing in $15,000.

For information on participating this year, call Tracey Coker at 770-719-7000.
