City set retreat for Feb. 28 By JOHN
THOMPSON
The city leaders of Senoia will retreat to the Freeman Sasser building in the city's park later this month to determine the city's goals and projects for the upcoming year. The retreat is set for Feb.28 and runs from noon until 5 p.m. Mayor Joan Trammell said a similar retreat held by the city two years ago was an all-day event, but she believes the Council can get the issues discussed in five hours this year. In a significant move, Trammell issued an invitation to County Commissioner Vernon "Mutt" Hunter to attend the retreat. "I think that will give him a better idea of what we're facing down here," she said. Trammell and Hunter have not been on the best terms for the last year. Trammell, along with Senoia City Councilman Dianne Cleveland, backed Hunter's opponent in last November's election. Trammell also expressed dismay that the county's recent contribution of $10,000 to the city's library was made payable to the library board and not the city. "I asked the county to make the check out to the city, but they said they could not do that," she said. This is the first mini-squabble between city officials and Coweta County since the election and Trammell is hopeful Hunter will take her up on her offer and attend the retreat.
