Kelley Nardell-Powell, outreach coordinator for the Partnership for a Smog-Free Georgia program, will try to convince the Fayette County Commission to participate.

PSG is an organization that works with employers to encourage commuter options that allow workers to use their automobiles less, especially during periods of heavy air pollution.

The 13 counties of the metro Atlanta region have been designated as having a "serious" air quality problem for ground-level ozone, the major component of what is commonly called "smog."

Employers also are encouraged to modify or postpone certain operations and maintenance activities when pollution levels are high, so as to reduce the likelihood of ozone creation.

Commissioners will hear the presentation during their meeting tomorrow at 7 p.m. at the County Administrative Complex.

Also during the meeting:

Dan Post of Post and Associates, the county's auditors, will give a presentation on the county's June 30, 2000 audit.

Commissioners will discuss awarding a contract for wireless cellular services, and also will consider designating the Information Systems Department to handle all cellular service.

The Marshal's office will ask the group to purchase a records management program.
