Officials still studying PTC water quality problems By DAVE
HAMRICK
Consultants are still looking for the cause of bad-tasting water complaints from Peachtree City Library and City Hall patrons last month. "We'll report back as soon as we have something," County Attorney Bill McNally told members of the county Water Committee last week. Fayette has five wells that supplement the local water supply, and all of them have been shut down while consultants study the Peachtree City problem, though Parrott said only the Willow Bend well serves the library. Some of the other wells have had occasional quality and quantity problems, he said. "Hopefully, we'll get to the bottom of exactly what the situation is," said McNally. It looks like the well itself has been ruled out as the origin of metals in the water that apparently caused the bad taste, he said. "The preliminary indication is problems within the building," said McNally. And although there was never any danger from the water, McNally said, "We took the actions we felt were necessary to do everything we could to make sure problems complained of didn't continue."
