Fulton students to premier musical compositions at Symphony Hall

Several students from Tri-Cities and North Springs high schools will experience the thrill of hearing their original musical compositions performed live at Atlanta Symphony Hall Friday, Feb. 2 at 10:30 a.m.

The students developed the works with guidance from professional composers Gary Motley and James Oliverio as part of the Fulton County School System and American Composers Forum "Composers in the Schools" residency program.

Funded by a grant from the Arthur M. Blank Family Foundation, the residency program gives Tri-Cities and North Springs music theory students an opportunity to work weekly with professional composers and have their original compositions performed for a live audience.

Members of the Tri-Cities and North Springs bands and orchestras and specially selected professional musicians also will perform commissioned works completed by the professional composers during the semester-long residency.

For information on the special concerts, phone
Tri-Cities orchestra director Bruno Paige at 404-669-8200 or North Springs music teacher Virginia Oliver at 770-551-2490.
