Car seat checks set at McIntosh Saturday morning

Free child safety seat inspections will be performed Saturday at McIntosh High School from 9 a.m. until 11 a.m. by volunteers from the Fayette Safe Kids Coalition.

If necessary, the time could be extended somewhat, officials said.

The inspections will be held in conjunction with the annual Pancake Breakfast event hosted by the Kiwanis Club of Peachtree City.

Volunteers will show how to properly secure the child seat, and the seats will be checked to make sure there have been no manufacturer recalls on the equipment. Several of the inspectors participating are nationally certified.

Participants in the safety seat inspection are also invited to join in the fun at the pancake breakfast, which costs $4 and includes pancakes, sausage and beverages.

The Peachtree City Fire and Rescue Department will be on hand with clowns, face painting and balloons for children. Also, a barbershop quartet will perform and Uncle Rich and JD from 98.1 FM will broadcast live from the cafeteria.
