Post office slated for Tyrone By JOHN
THOMPSON
Within the next two years, Tyrone residents should see a new post office sprouting up in town. Tyrone officials got the lowdown on the project from U.S. Postal Service officials Thursday night during the Town Council meeting. Postal officials said the want to stay within the town limits and are looking for a two- to three-acre site. The building would be approximately 8,300 square feet and feature 77 parking spaces, compared to the current 30. Officials are asking any residents who have a suitable tract of land to either contact postal workers in Tyrone or get a copy of the bid specifications from Town Hall. The Post Office plans to keep residents and town leaders updated during the whole bid process and hope to be in the new office in two years.
