Seabaugh joins battle on video game machines By JOHN
MUNFORD State Sen. Mitch Seabaugh, R-Newnan, is cosponsoring two different bills aimed at regulating video game amusement devices. One bill would forbid using gift certificates from being presented as winnings from video poker and other gaming machines, Seabaugh said. Already, state law bans the similar use of alcohol and money as winnings from such games. The other bill gives local governments the ability to adopt local legislation to further restrict the use of video game amusement devices. "The government should not support things that do not contribute to the betterment of people," Seabaugh said. The real problem areas with such machines are along the South Carolina border, Seabaugh noted. The bill allowing counties to write their own rules allows for different areas to handle the matter differently, he said. The local legislation must be approved by the state legislative delegation before it can be enforced, Seabaugh said.
