A car wash and a sandwich shop will be among the proposed new developments the Fayetteville Planning and Zoning Commission will consider Tuesday at 7 p.m. at City Hall.

Agenda items include a variance request from Olde Towne Builders for a lot in the Highland Park subdivision; a special exception request by Guthrie and Golden Development Company to install a car wash at a site on Ga. Highway 85 south; a rezoning request by Compass Financial Services from R-30 (residential) to O&I (office-institutional) for property at 335 North Jeff Davis Drive; a development plan from Larry's Subs of Atlanta Inc. for the building and lot at the southwest corner of Ga. Highway 85 and East Georgia Avenue; and rear building elevations for the new World Gym location at 931 North Glynn Street.

A recommendation for new math textbooks will be made to the Fayette County Board of Education at its Jan. 22 meeting, scheduled for 7 p.m. This proposal comes after nearly a year of extensive study and review by a committee composed of teachers, administrators, school board members, parents and a representative from the community, plus a district office representative.

Auditions for "Dearly Departed," the spring production from Fayette Community Theatre Inc., will be at 7:30 p.m. Monday and Tuesday at Sams Auditorium in Fayetteville. The director is seeking adults of all ages to fill roles.

In local high school basketball, the Fayette County Tigers host the North Clayton Eagles Tuesday night, while the Starr's Mill Panthers host the Henry County Warhawks. Tip-off for varsity action at each location is set for 6 p.m.

On the mats, the Fayette County wrestling team travels to LaGrange Wednesday to face the Grangers, Troup County and Northgate starting at 5:30.

Starr's Mill is on the road at Douglas County that same day, with Alexander and Lithia Springs rounding out the four-way meet that starts at 5 p.m.
