Tree planting tomorrow in Peachtree City
By JOHN
MUNFORD
Volunteers are being sought to help the Peachtree City Beautification Committee Saturday morning during its annual tree planting. This year, the committee will use 500 dogwood trees to help beautify Braelinn Ponds Park, which is on South Peachtree City Parkway across from the entrance to K-Mart. Another 1,000 trees will be planted on city rights of way to help reforest rights of way that are currently mowed by the city's public works department. Volunteers with younger children are encouraged to participate at the Braelinn Ponds site because of the reduced traffic in the area. Those wishing to participate can meet at City Hall at 9 a.m. or at the park's parking lot at 9:15 a.m. The event is scheduled to last until noon. In the past decade, the committee has added thousands of trees to the rights of way of Peachtree Parkway, Robinson Road and Flat Creek Road, along the banks of Lake Peachtree and at the Line Creek Nature Area. Last year, volunteers helped reforest areas on South Peachtree Parkway at Crosstown Road and at the Braelinn Recreation Area. For information phone Beautification Committee secretary/treasurer Betsy Tyler at 770-487-7657.
