Hecht, Seabaugh given committee assignment

Lt. Gov. Mark Taylor announced committee assignments for the state Senate Tuesday, naming Fayette's two senators to a total of eight slots.

Sen. Mitch Seabaugh, newly elected 28th District senator, will serve on the Agriculture, Insurance and Labor, and Special Judiciary committees.

Greg Hecht, second term 34th District senator, is chairman of the Corrections, Correctional, Institutions and Property Committee, vice chairman of the Judiciary Committee, and a member of the Reapportionment, Appropriations and Insurance and Labor committees.

The Reapportionment Committee will be charged with drawing new legislative district boundaries based on new data from the 2000 U.S. Census.
