Fayette group heading for the ball

When George W. Bush takes the oath of office as president of the United States this week, nine Fayette County Republican Party faithful will be present.

The delegation will leave Thursday with visions of pre-inaugural parties dancing in their heads, and will return Sunday following their whirlwind trip.

"We really lucked out," said party member Marilyn Watts. The Georgia delegation will be attending inaugural balls with the Texas delegation, she said.

"George W. will spend a lot of time there I think," she said.

The group will be staying on Pennsylvania Avenue, and has been invited to several extra parties, thanks to the work that Jean Studdard, a member of the group, did for U.S. Rep. Mac Collins during the November election.

"It's going to be a great trip... we're really excited about it," said Watts.
