Lohr selected new Peachtree City fire chief By JOHN
MUNFORD Stony Lohr has been named Peachtree City fire chief, replacing former Chief Gerald Reed. Lohr had been serving as the acting chief for the Peachtree City Fire and Rescue Department for just over a year. He took that position when Reed became ill. Reed died last month after an extended illness. Lohr joined the department in 1993 as a firefighter/paramedic. In 1998, he was promoted to accreditation manager/fire captain. City Manager Jim Basinger said Lohr demonstrated his abilities during his tenure as acting chief. "Chief Lohr has extensive training and experience in fire and emergency medical services," Basinger said. "I'm confident the Peachtree City Fire and Rescue Department will continue to offer first rate service and provide for the safety of our residents under Stony's leadership." Lohr, a native of Clarksburg, W.V., is a graduate of the U.S. Military Academy at West Point. He retired as a lieutenant colonel in July 1992, the same year he enlisted as a volunteer with the Peachtree City Fire and Rescue Department.
