Armed robbery at Fville Pit Stop being probed By JOHN
MUNFORD Fayetteville police this week are investigating an armed robbery that was reported Wednesday evening at the Pit Stop North convenience store on North Glynn Street. The victim told police that the offender used a brown-handled semi-automatic handgun to steal $85 in scratch-off lottery tickets, according to a police report filed on the incident. The crime actually took place between 10:30 and 11 p.m., but police weren't called until approximately 2:15 a.m., the report indicates. It is not clear whether the victim was tied up, which could have possibly caused the delay in reporting time. The victim was not injured and the incident was not captured on surveillance video, said police spokesman Lt. Tom Kirkbride. The report listed a black pickup truck as being a vehicle involved in the incident, but that allegation hasn't been confirmed by police, Kirkbride said.
