Airport Authority to consider hangar lease rates a third time

At its meeting Wednesday night, the Peachtree City Airport Authority is scheduled to again discuss the lease rates it wants to set for its new Hangar Area B.

The rates were discussed by the authority at its past two meetings but no official action has been taken. At the December meeting, a motion was brought to set the price at 45 cents per square foot with extra costs charged to commercial entities.

The commercial charges would have worked out to a minimum additional 10 cents per square foot. The motion capped the maximum total at 95 cents per square foot.

After the motion failed, the authority moved on to its next item on the agenda without considering another motion on the lease rates.

There was some talk about setting the base rate at 55 cents per square foot. But some members of the audience indicated they couldn't make money at that price unless the length of the lease was extended.

A total of 120,750 square feet of space will be available for lease at Hangar Area B, said Airport Manager Jim Savage.

The cost of infrastructure for Hangar Area B, which the authority will have to provide, is estimated at $165,000. The authority also anticipates receiving state and federal funds of approximately $600,000 for the project.
