The Fayette County Board of Education will discuss how it wants to manage construction projects in 2001 during a work session Monday at 7 p.m.

Also, newly sworn-in members, which include Marion Key, Janet Smola and Terri Smith, will join seated board members Greg Powers and Mickey Littlefield and together elect a chairman.

In preparation for new school construction to be funded through the $65 million bond issue passed in November, members will hear presentations on construction management.

The last major building program was overseen by Mike Satterfield, facilities director for the school system. Powers said Satterfield is already spread pretty thin, maintaining several million square feet of existing school facilities.

Proposals by project managers and building consultants will be heard at the upcoming meeting in an effort to decide on philosophy of construction management.
