School board going to residents for ideas

Each member of the Fulton County Board of Education sponsors a monthly meeting open to all community members.

The sessions give the community and board members an opportunity to discuss upcoming board issues and other system-related activities.

Board members have set the following meeting dates for January 2001:

Julia Bernath, District 7

Monday, Jan. 8, 9:30 a.m.

Woodland Elementary School

Linda Bryant, District 4

Monday, Jan. 8, 6 p.m.

Randolph Elementary School

5320 Campbellton Road, Atlanta

Zenda Bowie, District 6 and

Frank Lambert, District 5

Monday, Jan. 8, 6:30 p.m.

Tri-Cities High School

2575 Harris St., East Point

Gail Dean, District 3

Monday, Jan. 8, 9:30 a.m.

4820 Merlendale Drive, Atlanta

Ron Jackson, District 1

Monday, Jan. 8, 7 p.m

Mountain Park Elementary School

11895 Mountain Park Road, Roswell

Katie Reeves, District 2

Monday, Jan. 8, 7 p.m

Chattahoochee High School

5230 Taylor Road, Alpharetta

The members of the Board of Education have hosted these community meeting dates for a number of years and are believed to be one of the few boards in the country to use such a process for gathering input.

The meetings provide an opportunity for direct contact with community members and give board members a chance to listen to local issues and concerns.
