Reed leaves Main Street post By MONROE
ROARK Fayetteville is looking for a new Main Street director. Shellie Reed resigned Dec. 11, according to City Manager Joe Morton, after about six months on the job. Reed joined the city in August of last year, working as an assistant to Sherri Anderson, the former Main Street director, before taking over the department earlier this year. Anderson resigned after filing a sexual harassment complaint against former City Manager Mike Bryant that led to Bryant's resignation. "We're sorry to see Shellie leave, and we wish her the best," said Morton. "We have seen some progress with the Main Street program during her tenure." Reed said that she is pursuing other career opportunities in public relations and could work with another Main Street city in Georgia, since she has a "passion" for that program. "I have truly enjoyed working with the Fayetteville Main Street program," she said. "The sense of community pride in our city and county are exceptional. I have had the genuine pleasure of serving our community and working with some extraordinary individuals, companies and organizations." As for replacing her, city officials are now reviewing the job description, which Morton said is customary when a position becomes vacant, and expect to announce the opening no later than right after the holidays.
