Two local residents have been arrested and charged with molesting children in separate incidents that were recently reported to the Fayette County Sheriff's Department.

Michael Lynn Cain, 43, of 169 Brogdon Rd., Fayetteville, was arrested Tuesday, Dec. 12 for child molestation, aggravated sodomy and contributing to the delinquency of a minor. In a separate case, Terri D. Myrick, 42, of 1512 Ga. Highway 54 (in Marnelle Mobile Home Park in north Fayette County), was arrested for child molestation.

Myrick was granted a $22,000 property bond while Cain was denied bond, said Lt. Mahlon Donald of the Sheriff's Department.

In both cases, the victims were relatives of the offenders, Donald said.

Cain is accused of molesting a 10-year-old boy in his residence, Donald said. The charge of contributing to the delinquency of a minor came because Cain allegedly gave the youth alcohol, Donald added.

The incident took place between sometime in November of last year and Nov. 23 of this year, Donald said.

Myrick is accused of molesting a 9-year-old female in her residence, Donald said. That incident took place between August of 1998 and October of this year, he added.

Investigating child molestation allegations typically take much longer than other investigations, Donald noted.
