Tennis association won't come to PTC

The Georgia Tennis Association has decided not to relocate to Peachtree City after all. The city's development authority had hoped to lure the GTA and its 14 staffers to Peachtree City as it considered moving from its north Atlanta location. Plans were to include the GTA in office space the authority will add to the Peachtree City Tennis Center in the near future. But last week, the GTA sent a letter to Virgil Christian of the tennis center declining the authority's proposal. In the letter, GTA officials said travel time and potential relocation of staff were the major reasons to decline the authority's offer. Such a move could have lead to some employees leaving the organization and causing disruption, said the letter from GTA officials Mac MacDougal, Manny Guillen and Rick Grisham. The three also thanked the authority for "such a generous proposal." The GTA Executive Committee considered the proposal at its meeting on Nov. 17, the letter states. "After consultations with experienced people, this option to relocate to Peachtree City will not be pursued further," the letter stated. "We do recognize and appreciate the time and efforts of the mayor and the development authority to pursue the GTA as a viable asset to Peachtree City."
