Line Creek Baptist lies near namesake By CAROLYN CARY The Line Creek Baptist Church has not moved since its inception about 1869 but the names of the community it has occupied have changed. Its address is now Peachtree City and it is not far from its namesake, Line Creek. Though its beginning was under a brush arbor with six members, it currently enjoys a membership of about 500 persons. The pastor since 1972 is the Rev. Frank Treadwell. "We have a number of Bible studies that will be ongoing throughout 2001," he said, "and they will be for singles, women, men and couples. Be sure and call us for the schedule." The next one, "Breaking Free," is a 13-week course beginning Thursday evening, Jan. 11; the same course will also be taught each Tuesday at 9 a.m. It will be based on the "Beth Moore Seminars" and led by Mary Treadwell. Saturday, Jan. 20, the Rev. Archie Slaton, Beach Haven Church, Athens, will conduct a course on the five love languages. The seminar is for couples and will begin at 3 p.m. There will be a break for dinner and the seminar will be completed by 8 p.m. An active seniors group meets monthly and each enjoys short trips as well as a long one in November. This past month they traveled to Pigeon Forge for a week of activities. The church is especially proud of its Silent Witness Group, a class of 15 people who have learned to sign. The AWANA group for children meets each Wednesday evening at 6:30, and at 7 p.m. there is a Bible study for adults. Worship service is Sundayat 11 a.m. and 6 p.m. Sunday School is at 10 a.m. There is a ladies Bible study Tuesdays at 10 a.m. and a prayer meeting each Saturday morning at 9. The church is at 2711 Ga. Highway 54 west, Peachtree City, and can be reached at 770-487-9453.
