School board ponders decal exemptions

One of the more unusual items on next week's Fulton County Board of Education agenda concerns decals.

Thursday, Dec. 14, the board is scheduled to vote on a resolution to exempt a limited number of vehicles from a new state law that mandates that decals must be affixed to both front doors of any government vehicle.

School system public information officer Adrian Bailey said the system is seeking to exempt school buses from the law because they only have one front door.

"With only one front door, you don't want to limit the visibility," she said.

The other exemption the system is seeking is for cars used by the superintendent and assistant superintendent.

"They conduct a lot of business off school property and we just think they don't need the decals because of security issues," she said.
