PTC library to stay open late for exams

Local high school students looking for a quite late-night place to study for exams need look no further than the Peachtree City Library.

The library will stay open until 11 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 18 and Tuesday, Dec. 19 to let high school students study for their exams.

The library doors will be locked at 9 p.m., after which only the reference area at the rear of the facility will remain open for the students. Students wishing to participate must have a current student ID and a PINES library card on hand.

Light refreshments will also be served for the students as they do a last-minute brushing up for their exams. The students will be supervised by library staff and volunteers from the Peachtree City Library Corporation.

The late hours are a response to a request from students and inspiration on behalf of library staffers Mary Haas, Anna Hollander and Lola Williams.

"We want them to feel welcome in the library and we want them to know that we value their patronage," Hollander said.

The extended hours are part of the library's recent mission to reach out to young adults in the community.
