Wynnmeade access will not be closed
By JOHN
MUNFORD
When the traffic signal on Ga. Highway 54 at Wynnmeade Parkway is relocated to the new MacDuff Parkway, the entrance to the Wynnmeade subdivision will not be closed, said City Public Information Specialist Betsy Tyler. It will likely be redesigned, however, Tyler said. Though a final decision hasn't been made yet, it is extremely likely the Wynnmeade entrance will become a right in, right out only intersection, she said. Motorists wishing to leave Wynnmeade and travel eastbound on Hwy. 54 towards Peachtree City would use an access road to MacDuff Parkway, where the new light will be located. The right in, right out intersection would block traffic from exiting Wynnmeade and traveling toward Peachtree City. If future development in the area allows a second access road from the Wynnmeade subdivision to MacDuff Parkway, the city might reconsider the idea of closing the current Wynnmeade entrance off Hwy. 54, Tyler added. If the city decides to make the entrance a right in, right out only intersection, that won't occur until the light is relocated to MacDuff Parkway, Tyler said. The light must be relocated before the first residence is occupied at the Summit Apartments or in the Cedarcroft subdivision, according to agreements made between the developers and the city. It was indicated at the last Planning Commission meeting that some of the buildings at Summit Apartments were nearly ready to be moved into. However, the contractor that is performing the work for the developers has been delayed.
