News Briefs The Fayette Ballet presentation of "The Nutcracker" concludes this weekend's run with a 7:30 p.m. Saturday performance and a 3 p.m. Sunday show at Sams Auditorium. Fayette-Coweta Family Theatre is staging "A Winnie-The-Pooh Christmas Tail" at Peachtree City Elementary School, with Saturday shows at 11 a.m., 2 p.m. and 5 p.m. as well as two Sunday performances (3 p.m. and 5:30 p.m.). Fayette Community Theatre is performing "Rock and Roll Santa" this weekend and next at Spring Hill Elementary School in Fayetteville (Saturday at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday at 3 p.m.). Fayetteville attorney Michael Martin was sworn in Wednesday as the city's newest municipal court judge. The City Council held a brief special called meeting just before its regular workshop session, and Fayette County State Court Judge Fletcher Sams performed the swearing-in. Martin is replacing Sharon Pierce, who resigned just before Thanksgiving. The Fayetteville City Council will discuss a proposed liquor ordinance at Monday's regular meeting, which begins at 7 p.m. at City Hall. A first reading of the ordinance is on the agenda along with consideration of an amendment to the city's noise ordinance and an updated zoning map. Ruby Tuesday, soon to open across from Fayette Pavilion, has requested a variance so that three signs can be placed on different sides of its building, one more than what is allowed by the city's sign ordinance.
