Santa helping PTC Fire Department collect canned goods this weekend

If you hear sirens in your neighborhood over the next three weekends, don't be too alarmed. Chances are it's just Santa Claus. The jolly old elf is helping the Peachtree City Fire Department collect canned goods for the Fayette Samaritan program. Santa will be riding inside or on top of a fire truck, said Bill Gray of the Peachtree City Volunteer Fire Department. Children are encouraged to bring canned goods which will be collected by a vehicle that follows Santa's fire truck, Gray added. Candy donated by Harris Teeter will be thrown to children lining the streets as Santa passes by, Gray said. Santa won't be able to drive down each street, so the fire department is asking people to congregate at the nearest intersection. Santa plans to stop wherever there is a group of children, organizers said. Following is a list of subdivisions (in boldface) and the corresponding streets Santa will follow on his route this weekend.
