With the onset of the holiday season, auto theft action is cranking up at Fayette Pavilion.

Three vehicles were stolen this weekend from the Fayette Pavilion in the Toys R Us and Wal-Mart parking lots.

The thefts began Friday afternoon when a Newnan man reported his red and tan 1985 Chevy Silverado truck was missing, according to an incident report from the Fayetteville Police Department. The man had been in the store for a half-hour before discovering the vehicle was gone, the report said. A small amount of glass was found near where the truck had been parked.

Another auto theft was reported at Wal-Mart early Sunday morning. A Jonesboro woman told police her dark gray 1989 Chevy 2500 pickup was stolen while she was in the store for two hours.

The Toys R Us lot was struck again later Sunday when a store employee reported that his black 1987 Chevy Blazer was stolen. The victim, a Riverdale woman, had been working over 11 hours at the store before noticing her vehicle had disappeared at 10:30 p.m., a police report said.

No suspects have been apprehended in any of these thefts, although one of the vehicles was later recovered. Anyone with information that could assist police in their investigation should contact the FPD at 770-461-4441.
