Piedmont Physicians at Peachtree City welcomes new doctors

Frank Alena, M.D., Ph.D., a family physician, and Christine Long Choat, M.D., an internist, both formerly with The Emory Clinic at the Fayetteville Health Center, will join Piedmont Physicians at Peachtree City beginning Dec. 1 and Jan. 1, respectively.

Dr. Alena is board certified in family medicine with extensive experience in primary care, including emergency medicine. He obtained his medical degree at the University of J.A. Komensky in Czechoslovakia and is board certified in ophthalmology in Czechoslovakia.

He then moved to Canada where he taught medical students and conducted cancer research. He received his Ph.D. in Medical Sciences from the University of Alberta, Edmonton, Canada. Later, he moved to the United States, where he completed his residency training and fellowship in family practice at the East Tennessee State University.

Dr. Alena lives in Peachtree City with his wife, Jane, and two children.

Choat is board certified in internal medicine. She graduated from the University of Alabama School of Medicine, completed her internship with Emory University, and her residency with the Georgia Baptist Internal Medicine Residency Program.

She has practiced in Fayette County for over four years and sees patients age 16 and older. She lives in Peachtree City with her husband, Dr. Dennis Choat.

Drs. Alena and Choat join the practices of Dr. William Collins, family practice; Dr. Kathy Edwards, internal medicine; Dr. Janet Gerard, family practice; Dr. Richard Gorman, family practice; Dr. Karen Harris-Moore, family practice; and Dr. Amy Warner, internal medicine. Dr. Alena, along with Dr. Edwards, will see Dr. Choat's patients through the month of December.
